Subject: Your Presentation on the Professional
Responsibility Panel
Dear Lish,
Last night I looked at the tape of the panel you were on at
the Technology, Values and the Justice System conference.
During the conference, I had to move between sessions and
wasn't able to catch more than little of your presentation.
This note is because I had to go further with you than the
form thank you we sent out to all the presenters, although
the content of that was certainly quite sincere.
The entire panel was terrific -- knowledgeable, concerned,
interesting, thoughtful and stimulating. It was a classic
piece, and should be used instructionally. If you'd like a
copy, I can arrange that. You, however, were spectacular.
Your bringing in the words and spirit and history of Martin
Luther King and Fred Gray, and your own passionately held
values was very special and very right and went deeper than
the intellect. Thank you so much for that -- it's what I hoped
the conference would be about.
For the almost thirty years I've known you, -- through various
aspects of your career and your life -- you have consistently
been a person of high principle and values. You've not just
spoken the words, you've delivered the actions -- and further,
you've lived your life -- each breath -- consistent with those
principles and values. After almost 30 years, I remain very
proud to know you.
